Before Cosmetic Services
- Microneedling and cosmetic acupuncture cannot be done within 4 weeks after filler injections and botox. Microneedling cannot be done within 4 weeks after microdermabrasion, facial laser treatments, chemical peels or any other facial resurfacing treatments.
- Prior to your microneedling or cosmetic acupuncture appointment, it is important that your acupuncturist is informed of the exact locations of any fillers injected in the past 6 months. Please contact your injecting provider for this information and bring documentation with you. Acupuncture, when done too soon after fillers, may cause them to migrate.
- Cosmetic Acupuncture and Microneedling cannot be done if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or seriously ill. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or experiencing any of the following symptoms, please contact Maryville Acupuncture before booking to discuss your treatment options: bleeding/bruising disorders, severe migraines, Parkinson’s disease, cancer, AIDS, hepatitis, uncontrolled hypertension or a history of stroke, facial rashes, or active herpes outbreak.
- LED therapy is contraindicated if you are taking Accutane, retinoids, tretinoin, steroid therapy, or any medication that causes increased sensitivity to light, if you have active cancer, light sensitive epilepsy, used Botox or cosmetic fillers within 5 days, or have certain eye diseases.
- Our cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling services use organic, preservative free products to support collagen production. These products are specifically formulated to be hypoallergenic, but if you are sensitive to topical facial products, please consult with Maryville Acupuncture prior to booking.
- Please come with a clean, makeup free face.
- There is a small chance that cosmetic acupuncture can cause bruising at the site of needle insertion. Please consider the timing of your treatment around major events such as weddings, etc. Our providers are happy to formulate a plan to help you prepare for any big event.
After Microneedling
- After microneedling, your skin may appear pink or slightly red, like a mild sunburn. This typically lasts for 12-24 hours in most cases. You will be given an aftercare kit along with detailed instructions to accelerate recovery and support your results.
- Use the aftercare kit as specified in your post treatment handout for the week after treatment
- Do not workout, use a sauna or intentionally cause a sweat on the day after your microneedling appointment
- Do not apply makeup or use any soap on your face on the day of your microneedling appointment
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 24 hours after microneedling. Use mineral sunblock in the days following.
- You may see results in 1-4 weeks after treatment, depending on your individual constitution and skin healing

- Microneedling Cancellation Policy: Please provide 24 hour notice if rescheduling a microneedling appointment is necessary. Your full fee will be charged for any late cancellations or missed appointments.
- Cosmetic Acupuncture Cancellation Policy: Please give us 24 hours notice before canceling or rescheduling your appointment. Failure to do so may result in a charge of $50 to be paid before your next appointment.
